The work of Helen Benigson is energetic, hyper-hysterical, colorful and sexy. Using multi-screen video works and installations she invents new possibilities for text and poetry, feminine identity and the traditional genre of portraiture. Female images, bodily and overtly visceral language are combined with a palette of smoked salmon, blood oranges and floral fabric. Inspired by visual and sensual stimulation as well as the colours and movement of television she uses the body to exemplify the trauma and delight of pleasure and pain.
Helen was part of MY KINGDOM.
