Xavier Poultney's work deals with technology and scientific advancement and the role they play in shaping and informing our mass consciousness. He explores the idea that there is a sense that certain phenomena can never be perceived as gestalt and that we cannot totally relate to these mechanisms in their entirety, because they cannot be grasped through our senses.
His work focuses on this disconnect; the space where the viewer is confronted with something inhuman, perhaps beyond their reach or perception. He makes work which sits awkwardly between these realms of awareness and that highlights the strangely close proximities of the universal and the mundane, between order and chaos.
Xavier was part of Where Beats This Human Heart and My Kingdom.
