Space In Between launched themselves and the Unit 3 gallery with a solo show by London based artist Nick Roberts.
The exhibition was the result of Nick's exploration of materials and concept, and heralded a body of new work. Nick works mainly as a sculptor and the body of work for the show reflected his energetic yet quizzical engagement with materials and medium.
Combing synthetic and natural materials he makes sculptures which subtly hint towards modern textures, surface and design but which seem to have wrought from some strange natural occurrence, exploring an age-old and enduring dialogue between man and nature, order and chaos. Nick's work is inscribed with a sense of cultural atavism and his sculptures indicate a totemic endurance within the fleeting narrative of life.
